 BEIJING - China will push forward the green development of its agricultural sector by strengthening environmental protection and pollution control, an official said Thursday.

USDA: China lifts ban on imports of French and British beef

 During the week of June 24, 2018, China lifted its longstanding ban on imports of beef from both France and the United Kingdom.  France and China have negotiated an export protocol and France will be able to export beef once their plants are officially registered.  The United Kingdom will still need to negotiate an export protocol.

Extra tariffs on sugar from August

 China will levy extra tariffs on out-of-quota sugar imports from all origins starting from August 1, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said on Monday, just over a year after introducing hefty penalties on top growers including Brazil and Thailand.

Chinese companies have suspended importing GP breeders from Poland

 Recently, China Customs has verbally notified enterprises with GP breeder import qualifications to suspend import GP breeders from Poland. Consumption of yellow broilers in China still dominated by live chickens.

 The government advocates “large-scale farming, centralized slaughtering, cold chain distribution, and marketing of chilled chicken” in yellow broiler industry. Live chicken trading markets in medium and large cities have been closed down successively, and restrictions on live poultry trading and transportation are increasing, but yellow broiler consumption in China is still dominated by live chickens.

COFCO planned to acquire Russian southern port with 2.6 billion RMB

 Recently, COFCO planned to invest 2.6 billion RMB in acquiring one of three southern ports in Russia, which would be a transshipment point for grain. Besides, it was reported that COFCO was inclined to increase the investment in Russia, including the building of grain industrial chain, local logistics and warehouses and soybean further processing companies, etc.

Walmart to open 30 to 40 more stores in 5 years in Chengdu

 CHENGDU, July 3 (Xinhua) - Walmart plans to open 30 to 40 more stores in the next five years in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, the company has said.
