 China will expand high- and medium-end product imports to further promote consumption upgrades, spokesperson from the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

 China has decided to stop the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigation into imports of sorghum from the United States, the Ministry of Commerce said on Friday in a statement.

USDA: China changes pre-notification process for U.S. pork imports

 On April 16, 2018, China’s Food Safety Bureau (formerly of the Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine) stopped using the electronic Trade Document Exchange System (eTDE) to receive pre-notification information for incoming U.S.-origin pork shipments. As a result, all pork shipments that had not yet cleared Chinese customs (CIQ) were halted until a new process could be implemented to verify pre-notification information.

China moves to offer easier access for foreign investment

 China is quickening preparations for the introduction of new practices to cut red tape for business filing and registration of foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) as part of efforts to attract more investment inflows, authorities said Tuesday.

Grain crops by varieties

 According to the classification of grain crops in 2018, the sown area, the output, and the yield of cereals were 91.915 million hectares, 552.92 million tons, and 6015 kg/ha respectively, and they decreased by 0.53%, 0.03%, and 0.50% separately.

China's farm produce prices continue to dip

 China's farm produce prices continued to fall in the week ending May 20, according to data from the Ministry of Commerce.

More farm imports 'necessary'

 Since the first auction of temporarily-stored corn on April 12th, there has been a high auction volume of 7 million MT/week, and since May, the auction volume has increased to 8 million MT/week. By May 11th, the auction volume of temporarily-stored corn had approached to 27 million MT.

 China's corn imports surged in April, data from the country's customs authority showed.

China's corn exports projection slashed due to supply gap

 China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has slashed its projection for the country's corn exports from October 2017 to September 2018, due to a supply gap.

The sharp drop in hog prices will accelerate the increase in the scale of hog farming

 Currently, hog market is sluggish, and hog prices are hovering around 10yuan/kg, which is consistently lower than the industry cost line of 13yuan/kg. Pig industry has fully fallen into a loss. Raising self-propagated hogs averagely suffers a loss of  219yuan/head, and the profit of fattening outsourcing piglets is -296yuan/hog. Continuous decline in hog prices or will accelerate the elimination of backward production capacity in the market, and further promote the development of scale farming.

Pork price slump slows inflation rate

 China’s consumer inflation continued to slow in April, dragged down by a slump in pork prices. The Consumer Price Index, a main gauge of inflation, rose 1.8 percent year on year last month, slowing from the 2.1 percent annual growth in March and failing to reach the expectation of 1.9 percent, the National Bureau of Statistics said yesterday.

China pork imports down 10% in 1st quarter

 Chinese pig meat imports in the first quarter declined 10% compared with 2017 levels, mainly attributed to low domestic pork prices and oversupply, AHDB Pork reports. 

The structure of GP whiter breeder species in China has changed, with Hubbard ranking first

 In China, GP whiter broiler breeders mainly relies on imports. At present, the main breeds of commercial white broilers are AA+, Ross, Cobb and Hubbard. Due to the severe situation of international bird flu, China’s introduction channels and breeds of GP breeders have constantly changed, making the structure of GP white breeder species changed, and Hubbard has taken the lead.

China cut down trade deficit against the U.S., which would bring influence on fertilizer industry

 Recently, China and the U.S. have agreed to take effective measures to cut down trade deficit against the U.S. and increase agricultural product imports from the U.S. Although it is not directly related to fertilizer products, yet it would directly or indirectly influence domestic fertilizer market.    

MOFCOM: Chinese consumers prefer more targeted imported goods

 China's Ministry of Commerce on Monday released a report on major consumers' goods, showing that consumers prefer to import more cosmetics, watches, glasses, baby products, cars and jewelry. 

China e-commerce trade volume reaches 29.16 trillion yuan in 2017

 BEIJING, May 29 (Xinhua) - China's e-commerce trade volume in 2017 reached 29.16 trillion yuan (around 4.5 trillion U.S. dollars), up 11.7 percent year on year, according to a report released Tuesday.
