China passes new trademark law

 BEIJING -- China's legislature on Friday passed a new trademark law to crack down on infringements and ensure a fair market for trademark holders.

China gives agricultural modernization 500m yuan boost

 The Chinese government has allocated 500 million yuan (81.2 million U.S. dollars) to promote agricultural modernization, the Ministry of Finance announced Friday.

China allocates relief funds to drought-hit region

 The Chinese central government has allocated 40 million yuan (6.54 million U.S. dollars) to aid those affected by drought in the southwest province of Guizhou.

China lists domestic milk powder production licensees

 BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) - Chinese food and drug authorities on Tuesday publicized a list of 128 domestic companies that are eligible to produce milk powder, in a bid to better supervise the production of infant formula.

China seeks to consolidate infant formula firms

 Aimed to cut the number of domestic infant formula manufacturer from about 200 to 50 in the next five years, the Chinese government is set to issue a formal proposal to prompt consolidation of the industry, naming Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group as one of the likely beneficiaries. 

China to boost health service sector

 BEIJING - The Chinese government on Wednesday vowed to boost the health service sector. The health service sector, including nursing, recovery care and body building, is a key and vulnerable part of the modern service sector, according to a statement released after a State Council executive meeting presided over by Premier Li Keqiang.

China's farm produce prices continue to rise

 BEIJING, Aug. 27 - The prices of farm produce in 36 major Chinese cities continued to climb last week, according to official data released Tuesday.

Drought affects 6.38 mln hectares of farmland

 Drought plaguing the country's central and western regions has affected 95.77 million mu (6.38 million hectares) of farmland, China's drought relief authority said on Thursday.

China's 2013 corn output estimates may be even lower on heavy rains

 Due to rain and flooding in the northeast that damaged crops, boosting the need for more imports, corn output in China may be less than projected this year, according to a local researcher.

China's soy imports hit record high in July

China's beef prices surge due to drought

Dairy firm signs agreement with French food giant

 China Mengniu Dairy Co Ltd and French food giant Groupe Danone SA signed an agreement on Aug 9 to establish a joint venture, according to a statement by the Chinese dairy producer on Monday.

Chinese dairy company to apply for Hong Kong IPO

 Huishan Dairy Holdings Co Ltd is set to launch an initial public offering in Hong Kong to raise about $1 billion, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday. 

More New Zealand dairy products banned

 The quarantine authorities have announced the suspension of imports of lactoferrin from Westland Milk Products, a dairy producer based in New Zealand, after discovering excessive amounts of nitrate in the lactoferrin supplied by the company.
